Organized by Mosul Space and Women for Women International, and supported by GIZ, the Women’s Rights Hackathon 2021, is looking for tech minds that can solve challenges related to violence against women, and provide livelihoods opportunities.

The Women’s Rights Hackathon 2021, supported by GIZ on behalf of the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany, is organized by Mosul Space and Women for Women International. Mosul Space is an Innovation Hub fostering tech-based entrepreneurship in Iraq and Women for Women International is a NGO that works on women’s rights and gender equality. Additional technical support is provided by Zain Iraq for the development of the solutions.
The challenges to be solved in this year’s Hackathon are two: Violence against women at home and in the community; and the lack of livelihoods opportunities for women especially marginalized and conflict affected women.
To compete in the Women’s Rights Hackathon, teams must have 3 members at least, they need to be freelancers or a registered company, and have an idea based on technology to solve the problem and the challenge.
What is the price?
In this Hackathon, a jury will chose the 3 best ideas after all the teams had the chance to work with our business development consultants on their projects and finalize it. The three winner teams will be asked to submit their project idea with the budget to Women for Women International who will chose one project to sign a contract with and work with it as a paid service provider.
